The first step towards creating confidence

Most of us have an idea in our head as to what creating confidence might look like.

For a long time, my vision of confidence was of some high-powered executive male who didn’t care what anyone else thought of him. He probably owned a Ferrari or something. He would waltz in and out of meetings without a care for what people thought of him and say what was on his mind.

I’m sure I picked this up from a constant stream of bad movies.

But as I’ve now spent the past few years dedicated to studying and researching confidence, I realize how wrong I was.

That wasn’t confidence at all. That was arrogance. In fact, it was textbook definition arrogance. Which, as it turns out, is only another form of insecurity.

Unfortunately, many people also believe that creating confidence means being the person who doesn’t care what others think, who takes risks, who is unapologetic or flamboyant.

It’s time we start redefining confidence for what it actually is. It’s time we start creating confidence according to its true definition.

See, confidence is ACTUALLY defined as: the belief or feeling that you can rely upon something or someone. Also known as: firm trust.

It’s a belief that you rely upon something or someone, whether that be yourself, your community, your family, your resources, or a higher power.

That’s all confidence is.

You don’t need to know the answers. You don’t need to know with certainty how a situation will turn out. It’s not feeling all that, or “faking it,” or how you stand, or the clothes you wear.

Creating confidence means getting to a place in life where you know that regardless of what uncertainty you face in your life, you have the tools, people, and guidance to get through it.

And when we reach that level of confidence, with it comes peace. Because now you don’t need to control everyone and everything around you. There’s no need to overthink or ruminate, or allow your anxiety to take over.

When we create true confidence, we cultivate our ability to be successful in any venture we take on, while also cultivating and maintaining our sanity.

Doesn’t THAT sound nice?

I look forward to helping you in your journey towards creating confidence that’s both sustainable and authentic. Because with it, we can do anything.
